I’ve just started playing Sam ‘n Max Episode 1 (I bought the entire series on steam for $27) , and wow is it a breath of fresh air into the life of gaming that has become obsessed with First Person Shooters (FPS) and Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG).

I played the demo a while back (available here ) and found it quite entertaining, but never actually thought of buying the game as I felt that $9 per Episode is just to much cash for little old me to splash out.

But steam is having a special on till the 9th of November where you can buy all 6 episodes for $27. That means you save $36! Okay, back to the point..

No, this article is not about Adobe pushing the boundaries in PDF awesomeness and going “the extra mile”, or “giving it 110%”. It is indeed the fact that, when you try run the stupid Adobe Installer to install you new Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1 you will use more of your bandwidth than you bargained for..

I know here at boskak we aren’t exactly known for our education angle, but this article is actually quite interesting.

It is all about the history of CD-Roms.  So if you are interested in that whole kinda thing this article should be a good read..

The following extract came from http://siliconuser.com/?q=node/15

“The inventor of the compact disc, the most popular medium in the world for playing back and storing music, is often disputed as one individual did not invent every part of the compact disc. The most attributed inventor is James Russell, who in 1965 was inspired with a revolutionary idea as he sketched on paper a more ideal music recording system to replace vinyl records; Russell envisioned a system which could record and replay sounds without any physical contact between parts. By the time his invention had been refined and further developed, it was actually a merger and adaptation of many different technologies including the laser (1960), digital recording (1967) and optical disc technology (1970s). Russell struggled to attract interest from investors at first but eventually Sony and other companies realized the potential and purchased licenses of the CD-ROM technology.”

If, like me, your USB tray icon has disappeared for no reason, you will know how frustrating it can be. Short of just pulling the USB flash out, which, once you’ve lost valuable data doing so, is not such a great idea; there isn’t much you can do.

I just received this in my mailbox. Not sure if it’s spam but better safe than sorry!

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING:

You should be alert during the next days:

Do not open any message with an attached file called “Invitation ” regardless of who sent it, It is a virus that opens an Olympic Torch which “burns” the whole hard disc of your computer.

If you receive a mail called “invitation” , though sent by a friend, do not open it and shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced, it has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.

This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept

As I am writing this, I have managed to restore my computer’s functionality after 2 hours of restarting and re-installing. It all started about a month ago when after restarting, Daemon Tools failed to load in the system tray on startup.

LAN’s are for real men! I claim. But the glares and stares I get from my fellow work mates and just about everyone else I repeat this phrase too tells me that they are not on the same wave length as me.

They say, ‘ja, its such a drag, and boring.. Bunch of nerds’.

What? So are you telling me that running around dark rooms, listening to electronic music and eating little pills is cool? Well let me just say that it seems to me that you are all just playing one big game of Pacman, except there are no ghosts chasing you, and the pills cost you points instead of giving you points.. But in the end it’s still only a glorified version of Pacman. If that is the case, then it means that while you are chasing each other around in a dark room, you are in fact playing a large version of Pacman, that also includes other people. Ha! Sounds like a LAN to me, except you only play Pacman! Losers!

So, you must be wondering how it is possible to write an article on “How anyone can remove most virus’ in 3 steps”?

Well its simple, since most viruses act and behave the same way, there choice of destruction might differ, but deep down in the depths of there little virus soul they are all the same, and that is of course “One big pain in the ass!”. Of course you get the really bad ass viruses, like the ‘die hard’ virus that stores itself on your bios chip and can only be removed by bios flashing or placing your bios chip in a fridge/freezer(for the days before bios flashing)! But for the common spyware and virus, removal is easy, well easy as long as you have all the correct tools and make sure they aren’t corrupted.
