Continuing our theme of bad ass Nes games of the 80’s and 90’s, here at boskak Rudaro and myself have tried to do the impossible.. FINISH ADVENTURE ISLAND!!

You would think that no game creators would ever be cruel enough to make a game that has no extra lives, no continue spots and no skip-level-back-door secret. But unfortunately there is.. That being the game called “Hudson’s Adventure Island” or also known as Wonderboy (arcade)

Not only is this game divided into eight worlds with four levels each, it also has a bad ass boss at the end of each world.

Here at boskak we have decided to tackle some of those famous nes games that we loved so much while we were growing up (and still do :D). Their addictiveness and pure enjoyment just can not be matched by today’s games (plus you don’t need a killer machine to play them. Just Java and the internet.)

I’ve already tackled Bomberman , and a fellow boskakian is busy with mario bro’s. In the mean time, let us turn our attention to Iceclimber..

Have you ever wondered why Japanese people have this urge to club seals, and kill polar bears?? It’s because of Ice Climber.
Have you ever wondered why children love to jump onto moving things? It’s because of Ice Climber!!
Have you ever wondered why Jacob Zuma and George Bush are such complete and utter losers?? It’s because they didn’t play Ice Climber!

Let us just count the awesomeness of Ice Climber. When you didn’t want to do your home work, what did you do?? You played Ice Climber. When your mom pushed ice blocks over your awesome holes of destruction, what did you do? You smashed her with a large wooden mallet (or atleast you tried). (btw, the music to this game is the shizzle)

Okay, so here is a game that not only encourages seal bashing(USA version), yeti bashing(Japan version), bird bashing and polar bear smashing (you have to wait a while on the same platform for this), but it also supports Terradactyl flying and cloud jumping! How much more awesome can it get??

Before anyone starts thinking about the possibility of mini Ultra-L0rd’s running around, let me explain.

Or, rather. Let me show you my creation :

See, I took that little blue robot through 50 levels of bomb-planting mayhem….. We suffered together, we cried together, we blew up stuff together, and even became invulnerable every now and then. You know what I got for it??
All I got in return was this shitty little thank you screen (see below)

I’ve just started playing Sam ‘n Max Episode 1 (I bought the entire series on steam for $27) , and wow is it a breath of fresh air into the life of gaming that has become obsessed with First Person Shooters (FPS) and Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG).

I played the demo a while back (available here ) and found it quite entertaining, but never actually thought of buying the game as I felt that $9 per Episode is just to much cash for little old me to splash out.

But steam is having a special on till the 9th of November where you can buy all 6 episodes for $27. That means you save $36! Okay, back to the point..

All right, so I haven’t really been posting new games of the week lately.. Sue me!

Work has been busy, and I must say, the quality of games that you can find on the net have really dropped in the last few months.

But thanks to our Anti KFC friends at PETA, an awesome new game is up for grabs.

vely ANTI-KFC game where you run around with a chic, trying to save Pamela Anderson! Plus they have these lovely gruesome graphics and stories on how KFC torture these poor chickens… boo hooo.

Strangely enough instead of this game making me boycott KFC, I suddenly feel like having a good Double Crunch burger, with a streetwise 2 on the side… mmmmm! Real food, made real good

This week on boskak the game of the week is POINTER!

I know this game might sound really lame, but it seriously has an addictiveness to it, plus it trains you to have uber mouse speed so that you can kill guys in FPS’s like Chuck Norris kills people in movies! So yes, this game rockzors.. But it is quite tough!
The best part is… it’s only 110kbs!!

Thats right ladies and gentlemen, it’s game of the week time here on boskak.

This week’s Game of the Week is called : NinJack.
Game Rating : (out of 5)

Competitiveness : 2

All round coolness : 4 (ninja’s rule)

Total Boskakness : 3.5

If this game had a multiplayer mode, it would have definitely gotten a 4 for Addictiveness and Competitiveness. But unfortunately the designers obviously didn’t have Boskak’s awesome rating system in mind while programming this baby.

NinJack is an awesome little fighting platform game, in which you do what you do on most platform games.. You run around kicking ass. The sound and graphics of this game I give 2 thumbs up for, it looks like the game designers actually wanted to take there time on this.

Objective : Swing a hinge as hard as you can, try hit the guy falling at the right angle and send him flying for miles!!

It is one of those simple yet addictive games where it is all about luck and a little bit of skill, even though we some how convince ourselves that it is pure skill, of course only until someone beats your score, then it’s just pure luck..
