Story Synopsis
Samurai Champloo starts off with the viewer meeting Fuu, a young girl working in a tea shop. There she meets Mugen and Jin, two skilled samurai who start fighting and eventually destroy the tea shop. They are finally arrested and are sent for execution. Fuu helps them escape and enlists their help in finding the “Samurai with the scent of sunflowers”. This leads them on a series of adventures and mishaps and every episode is guaranteed excitement.
Samurai Champloo is set in Japan’s Tokugawa period, think samurai and kimonos. This has got to be one of the best anime series of all time, the fight scenes are amazingly choreographed, none of this DragonballZ repeating-hit bullshit. The thing that makes this show unique is its hip-hop soundtrack and while the idea of Japanese hip-hop might sound weird to some, it really fits the series. Definitely worth a watch!
