Story Synopsis

Elfen Lied revolves around a young girl named Lucy. She is a member of the Diclonius race; mutants created by humans and subjected to a life of experimentation due to their enormous power. One day, Lucy breaks out of her cell, killing almost everyone in her path and manages to escape. Just before she does however, she is shot and falls into the ocean.

She washes up on a beach and is discovered by two young teenagers, Kota and Yuka. She seems to have amnesia, so they name her Nyuu and invite her to live with them. However, it seems that her true nature as evil Lucy is not lost…

Elfen Lied is very difficult to pin to a specific genre of anime, it has elements of comedy, horror and some serious ass-kicking with tons of blood and gore. Elfen Lied is definitely one of my favourite animes of all time, and is well worth checking out.
