No, this article is not about Adobe pushing the boundaries in PDF awesomeness and going “the extra mile”, or “giving it 110%”. It is indeed the fact that, when you try run the stupid Adobe Installer to install you new Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1 you will use more of your bandwidth than you bargained for..
SARS (South African Revenue Service) aka we-steal-from-the-poor-give-to-ourselves has actually done something really awesome for once, during their pitiful existence. They have gone and made it that you can submit you Tax Returns online. (here is the link https://secure.sarsefiling.co.za/)
Anyways, so to complete the damn forms online they require you to have Adobe Reader 8.1 on your PC. So with my awesomeness 4meg line I went and downloaded this beast of a 23meg program. No sweat… Well so I thought.
In the end I ended up downloading more that 75 megs, and getting a critical checksum error at the end of it!!

I let this puppy run till 150%. Hit the pause button, and then resumed. It somehow reverted back to 23%, went up to 100% and then just bombed out.
So, if you are having the same problem, or actually just want the Acrobat Reader 8.1 exe on your PC, you can just download it from the link below, proudly hosted by boskak.za.net
